Legal Support Staff

Land and Development Legal Assistant

Legal Assistant/Paralegal specializing in land development matters. Preference given to candidates with a minimum 5 years legal experience in land development and a conveyancing background. The position requires the ability to manage a development file from development approval to registration including any Statutory Rights of Way, Covenants, Easements, Disclosure Statements and all related documentation. You will have a working knowledge of the LTA, SPA, REDMA and related statutes, are able to work independently with little supervision but cooperatively with others, are self-motivated, able to meet deadlines and cope under pressure.

Real Estate Paralegal/Conveyancer

The successful candidate will possess: - Superb technical, administrative and communication skills; - Accuracy and detail-oriented; - Ability to prioritize, organize and expedite workflow; - Excellent organizational skills, coupled with strong grammar and punctuation skills; - The ability to independently create letters and routine legal documents; - A professional demeanor, attitude and experience in dealings with large, sophisticated developer clientele; - Excellent communication skills; - Proficiency with Land Title and Personal Property Registry procedures, filings and documents; - The ability to work independently as well as a team player; - Some experience in real estate development (e.g., disclosure statements, rights of way, easements). Duties will include: • File opening and handling multiple real estate files from start to finish (including being involved in releases of new subdivisions). • Land Title and other searches. • Conducting due diligence searches using BC Online and agents when necessary. • Commercial lending experience would be an asset. • Communicating and meeting with clients to obtain instructions. • Dealing with realtors, lenders and surveyors. • Preparing Land Title documents. • E-filing of documents. • Coordinating closings. • Reporting. • Managing files to include bring forward dates for regular review. • File maintenance, organizing and filing.

Litigation Legal Assistant

Candidate is responsible for the general file management of personal injury files and the duties include: - Preparation/drafting of correspondence, legal documents including pleadings and Bills of Costs. - Scheduling examinations for discovery, trial dates, IMEs, mediations and settlement conferences. - General file management. - Trial preparation. - Communicating with clients, ICBC adjusters and defence counsel.

Family Law Legal Assistant

Provides clerical support for two family law assistants, including dictation, correspondence, scheduling, filing and holiday relief. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment, must have excellent English skills, have general office proficiency, and a willingness to learn.
