Practice Emphasis
Christopher has significant experience in civil litigation and estate litigation, where he regularly appears as lead counsel in trials, arbitrations, and appeals in British Columbia. He started his career in 2012 in the litigation department of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s Ottawa office, where he practiced for three and a half years, before moving to British Columbia in 2016 to join Nixon Wenger LLP. His advocacy practice is focused on estate litigation, construction disputes, and commercial litigation, and he is regularly retained by other lawyers (or their clients) to act as trial counsel when it appears that a court action will inevitably proceed to trial. He is also a qualified arbitrator.
Since his call to the bar in 2012, he has argued notable cases in diverse areas of law. Over the years, he has also appeared at the Federal Court of Canada, various courts in Ontario, administrative tribunals throughout British Columbia and Ontario, and has acted as counsel in court actions in Alberta. For a number years, he taught an estate litigation course with his former colleague, Andrew Powell, at Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law.
Despite regularly appearing as an advocate in the courts of British Columbia, Christopher has great appreciation for the arbitral process and all means of alternative dispute resolution. In 2025, he was granted his Q. Arb. designation from the ADR Institute of Canada, and he has expanded his practice to include acting as an arbitrator.
